FlowLab — MTB Video Analysis Tool
FlowLab is a free, offline video analysis tool for mountain bikers and MTB coaches. Drop in two videos and compare them frame-by-frame — side-by-side, ghost overlay, or live coach mode. No subscription. No uploads. No app store. Download once, use forever. Built by a coach, for riders who want real answers.
FlowLab — powered by Gravity Nelson MTB Coaching, Nelson NZ.
Three Ways to Analyse
Side-by-Side
Watch two runs simultaneously (side by side or one above the other). Spot where you gain or lose time, compare line choice, and see the difference in body position — frame by frame.
Ghost Overlay
Overlay one rider on top of the other with adjustable opacity. Nudge the position in 2D to align the trails perfectly. The differences jump out immediately.
Live Coach
Analyse any single video with frame-by-frame drawing tools, webcam picture-in-picture, voice commentary, and export your full coaching breakdown as a video file.

For Riders
The problem
- You watch YouTube tips but can’t see yourself riding.
- You feel fast but your lap time says otherwise.
- You don’t know what you’re doing wrong — or right.
- A coach is expensive and not always available.
How FlowLab helps
- Film yourself on a section. Film a faster friend on the same section.
- Drop both into FlowLab and compare frame-by-frame.
- See exactly where they carry more speed, take a better line, or hold better body position.
- Adjust your technique, film again, compare again — measurable progress on your own schedule.
Pro tip: For the cleanest ghost overlay, mount your phone or GoPro on a tripod in a fixed position. Film yourself, then film your friend from the exact same spot. The closer the camera angles match, the more obvious the differences become.
For Coaches
The problem
- You can’t be at every trail with every client.
- Clients struggle to articulate what they’re feeling.
- Most video analysis tools are expensive, complex, or require internet.
- You need something clients can actually use without hand-holding.
How FlowLab helps
- Send clients a single file. No signup, no tutorial needed.
- They film themselves and use FlowLab to identify issues first.
- When they’re stuck, they send you the video for remote feedback.
- White-label FlowLab with your brand and offer it as a client perk.
- Spend your time on coaching, not on software setup.
Coach license: White-label FlowLab with your logo, colours, and client send-to-email. From $99/year. See pricing below ↓
How It Works
- Download — one HTML file, no install required.
- Open in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).
- Drag and drop your videos into the library panel.
- Analyse — choose your mode: side-by-side, ghost overlay, or live coach. Trim, loop, slow down, export.
Beyond MTB — For Any Sport
FlowLab isn’t limited to mountain biking. The same comparison tools work for any sport where technique, timing, and body position matter. If you can film it, FlowLab can help you analyse it:
- Skiing & Snowboarding — Compare your line choice and carving technique against a pro’s run, frame by frame.
- Motocross & Enduro — Ghost overlay your cornering, braking, and body positioning through a whoop section or rutted turn.
- Skateboarding & BMX — Step through trick sequences frame by frame to dial in your pop, rotation, and landing.
- Running & Sprinting — Side-by-side gait analysis to spot form breakdowns in your stride.
- Golf — Compare your swing plane, weight shift, and follow-through against a reference video.
- Surfing — Analyse wave entry timing, rail-to-rail transitions, and line-up positioning.
- Rock Climbing & Bouldering — Break down beta and body positioning on a specific sequence of moves.
The principle is the same for every sport: film a reference (your best attempt, a faster friend, a pro video, or a coaching demo), film yourself attempting the same movement, drop both into FlowLab, and see exactly where the difference is. No subscription, no cloud upload, no learning curve — just honest side-by-side comparison.

FAQ
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser. Chrome is recommended for the best video export performance.
Do I need internet to use FlowLab?
No. Once you’ve downloaded the HTML file, it’s fully offline — trailhead, van, campsite, anywhere.
Is my video uploaded to any server?
Never. All video processing happens locally in your browser on your phone or computer. Nothing leaves your machine.
Can I use it on a phone?
FlowLab is optimised for desktop and laptop browsers. You can film on your phone, transfer to your computer, and analyse there. Modern high-end phones can also handle the processing, it might just be a bit laggy.
Can I put my own branding on it?
Yes — the Coach License gives you a white-label version with your logo, colours, and client send-to-email.
Can I share my analysis or just a video of me riding with a coach?
Yes. Export your analysis as a video file and share it, or send us your unanalysed video. We will then annotate the video and provide feedback. For personalised feedback from a Gravity Nelson coach, reach out via the contact page. Prices by arrangement.
